"Sidewalk" is the third studio album by the Australian rock band Icehouse, released on June 26, 1984, by Chrysalis Records and Regular Records. It marked a shift in the band's sound towards a more somber and reflective tone compared to their previous albums. One of the notable additions to the album was the use of the Fairlight CMI digital sampling synthesizer, a pioneering instrument at the time.
The album peaked at No. 8 on the National albums chart in Australia, further solidifying Icehouse's presence in the music scene. Notably, "Sidewalk" was the first studio album where bassist Guy Pratt contributed as a member of the band. Pratt would later establish himself as a prominent session musician, collaborating with renowned artists such as Pink Floyd, Roxy Music, David Bowie, Madonna, and Michael Jackson.
In 2002, Warner Music re-released "Sidewalk," digitally remastered by Iva Davies and Ryan Scott, with the addition of four bonus tracks. This re-release helped introduce the album to a new generation of listeners and highlighted its enduring appeal within the band's discography.
