Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned is a studio album by English electronic music group The Prodigy. It was released on 23rd August 2004 by record labels XL and Mute MCPS. This fourth album was an effort from Liam Howlett alone, and is the only Prodigy album not to feature Maxim Reality and Keith Flint.
The album title is a play on the title of the Walter Mosley novel "Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned". It represents a new direction for the band, with an emphasis on live instrumental renditions, rather than samples that marked their previous works. The album features guest vocals from Juliette Lewis, Princess Superstar, Kool Keith, and actress and model, Ping Medina.
Highlighted tracks include "Spitfire", "Girls", "Hotride" and "Memphis Bells". The record received mixed to positive reviews from critics, particularly praising its innovative character, whilst others criticized it for the lack in continuity regarding their previous releases. In terms of commercial performance, the album reached number one in seven countries including the UK, making it a commercial success.
After its release, The Prodigy embarked on a worldwide concert tour to support the album named "Their Law: The Singles 1990–2005". Despite the mixed reviews, "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned" has left lasting impact and marked the band's willingness to experiment and push boundaries within electronic music.
