Katy Perry

"Witness" is the fifth studio album by American singer Katy Perry. It was released globally on June 9, 2017, by Capitol Records. For the production, Perry collaborated with a host of various producers, including Jeff Bhasker, Mike Will Made It, Max Martin, and others. "Witness" delves into themes of liberation and explores Perry's feelings about her own consciousness. The album represents an experimental leap for Perry as it leans into an electropop and dance-pop sound, deviating from Perry's well-known pop rock and power pop sound from her previous records. "Witness" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming Perry's third consecutive number-one album. The album was preceded by two singles, "Chained to the Rhythm" featuring Skip Marley, and "Bon Appétit" featuring Migos. Both singles entered the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. "Witness" was also promoted through a livestream on YouTube titled "KPWWW", which lasted four days. The livestream concluded with a live concert which fans could attend through donations to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Despite mixed reviews from music critics, "Witness" managed to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
