"On Time" is an important debut for Grand Funk Railroad, released on August 25, 1969, by Capitol Records. Produced by Terry Knight and recorded at Cleveland Recording Company, the album helped establish the band’s presence in the rock scene. The single "Time Machine" was a notable early success, reaching #48 on the charts.
Despite its initial release, "On Time" gained greater recognition following the success of their second album, Grand Funk (often referred to as The Red Album) in 1970. That year, On Time achieved gold status, alongside Closer to Home and Live Album, marking a significant period of success for the band.
In 2002, On Time was remastered for CD with bonus tracks and included in the limited edition *Trunk of Funk* box set. This set not only featured the band's first four albums but also came with collectible items such as 3D glasses, a guitar pick, and a concert ticket sticker, designed to appeal to fans and collectors alike.
