"A Hero's Death" is the second studio album by the Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C., released on July 31, 2020, through Partisan Records. The album came less than 18 months after their debut album, Dogrel. It received widespread critical acclaim, marking a shift from the raw, anxiety-driven post-punk of their first record to a more dream-like and psychedelic sound, influenced by bands like The Beach Boys.
The album was nominated for several prestigious awards, including Best Rock Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, the Brit Award for International Group, and Album of the Year at the 2020 Choice Music Prize. It was also in contention for the Best Album Ivor Novello Award in 2021.
In a notable chart contest, A Hero's Death debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, just behind Taylor Swift's Folklore. Swift's album secured the top spot due to a last-minute sales strategy.
