"Cuts Like a Knife" is the third studio album by Canadian musician Bryan Adams. Released on 18 January 1983 through A&M Records, the album was a commercial success. It achieved 3x platinum status in Canada, 2x platinum in the United States and platinum in Australia. The album was released with ten tracks, paving the way for Adam's music career internationally. Notable songs from the album are "Cuts Like a Knife," "This Time," and "Straight from the Heart." The latter being Adam's first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the USA, peaking at number 10. The album peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 album chart and it was ranked number 98 on Kerrang! magazine's "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time" count down. The album was recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios, Vancouver, Canada, and was produced by Bryan Adams and Bob Clearmountain, an American music engineer, mixer and producer. This collaboration played a massive role in establishing Adam's sound, with Clearmountain's production enhancing Adams's raw energy and talent for catchy rock hooks. "Cuts Like a Knife" is recognized as the album that brought Bryan Adams into the mainstream. The combination of catchy rock and love ballads solidified his place in music history.
