"Halber Mensch" (or 1/2 Mensch; English: Half Person) is the third studio album by the German industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten. It was released on September 2, 1985, by Some Bizarre Records in the U.K. and by What's So Funny About GmbH in Germany. In the U.S., the album was distributed by Rough Trade Records.
Halber Mensch demonstrates a broader artistic range for Einstürzende Neubauten, incorporating diverse musical elements. The album features electronic dance music influences in "Yü-Gung (Fütter mein Ego)" and includes an almost a cappella rendition of the title track. The group's dynamic range is notably expanded; for instance, Blixa Bargeld's voice in "Seele Brennt" shifts dramatically from a barely audible whisper to a high-pitched scream. Additionally, "Letztes Biest (am Himmel)" features subtle bass guitar overtones and relatively restrained percussion.
