Miley Cyrus

"Breakout" is the second studio album by American singer Miley Cyrus, released on July 22, 2008, by Hollywood Records. This album marks Cyrus's first release not connected to her Hannah Montana character, following Meet Miley Cyrus, which was a joint album with her television persona. *Breakout* was primarily composed during her headlining Best of Both Worlds Tour (2007–08) and is predominantly a pop rock record, though it incorporates various musical styles. The lyrical content deals with themes of breakups and coming of age. Most of the album was produced by Rock Mafia, with additional production from Matthew Wiler and Scott Cutler. Cyrus co-wrote eight of the thirteen tracks. The album received generally favorable reviews from critics, though some felt it did not significantly diverge from the Hannah Montana brand. Commercially, Breakout was successful, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 370,000 copies. This achievement made Cyrus the third solo artist under age eighteen to have multiple number-one albums on the Billboard 200, and the seventh overall. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It also topped the Canadian Albums Chart for two weeks and the Australian Albums Chart for one week, and reached the top ten in several other countries, including Hungary, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The album's singles included "7 Things," released on June 17, 2008, which achieved top-ten status in various countries, and "Fly on the Wall," released as the second single on November 4, 2008.
