Virgin Prunes

"The Moon Looked Down and Laughed" is a studio album by the Irish post-punk band Virgin Prunes. Released in 1986, it is the band's second and last studio album that came out through the record label Baby Records. The album was produced by Dave Ball and Rick Walton. The band, Virgin Prunes, was known for their blend of post-punk and experimental rock. They were an active part of the Irish post-punk scene and friends with the members of the popular band U2. “The Moon Looked Down and Laughed” showcases a distinct transition in the band's music, taking on more gothic and experimental rock elements. This album contains the popular track "Love Lasts Forever". The album did not receive as much commercial success as hoped and was faced with mixed reviews. However, it continued to solidify the Virgin Prunes’ unique place in the experimental and post-punk music scene. Following this album, several members of the band departed resulting in a change of name and musical direction. Despite the changes, "The Moon Looked Down and Laughed" remains a significant part of the Virgin Prunes’ musical legacy.
