Manfred Mann's Earth

"Plains Music" is an album released in 1991 by Manfred Mann's Plains Music, a project initiated by Manfred Mann after disbanding his Earth Band in the late 1980s. The album focuses on melodies inspired by North American Plains Indian music, though Mann emphasized that it does not aim to be a direct representation of the original ethnic music. In his 1991 statement about the album, Mann described it as a simple album of plain music, characterized by minimalistic arrangements and brief, direct tracks. The album includes recordings made in Mann's homeland, which he had been exiled from for nearly three decades due to his opposition to apartheid. Plains Music was initially released in 1991 and later re-mastered in 1998, with three additional tracks added in the reissue.
