Alice In Chains

"Rainier Fog" is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alice in Chains, released on August 24, 2018, through BMG. It marked their first release on the label and was inspired by Mount Rainier, which overlooks the Seattle-Tacoma area. The title track pays tribute to the Seattle music scene, reflecting the band's deep roots in their hometown. This album is significant for several reasons: it's the band's third album featuring William DuVall sharing lead vocals with Jerry Cantrell, and it is the first Alice in Chains album in 22 years to be recorded in Seattle. The band recorded part of the album at Studio X in Seattle, the same studio where they recorded their 1995 self-titled album. Rainier Fog is also notable for being the band's third collaboration with producer Nick Raskulinecz, marking their first time working with the same producer on three full-length albums. The album includes singles such as "The One You Know," "So Far Under," "Never Fade," and the title track "Rainier Fog." To promote the album, Alice in Chains released a 10-part sci-fi web series titled Black Antenna in 2019, with a full-length feature film announced but still without a release date as of 2020. Rainier Fog debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and achieved No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums, Alternative Albums, and Hard Rock Albums charts. It also reached No. 9 in the UK, marking Alice in Chains' first top 10 album there. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2019 and won a Metal Storm Award for Best Alternative Metal Album in 2018.
