"A Tab in the Ocean" is the second album by the German-based English progressive rock band Nektar. Released in 1972, it is considered a classic of the progressive rock genre, showcasing the band's ambitious musical style and thematic depth.
One of the standout tracks from the album is "King of Twilight," which later gained further recognition when it was covered by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden's version of "King of Twilight" was released as a B-side to their 1984 single "Aces High." In their rendition, Iron Maiden combined elements of "King of Twilight" with parts of another Nektar song, "Crying in the Dark," creating a medley that highlighted their admiration for Nektar's music.
This cover version introduced a new audience to Nektar's music and reinforced the influence of "A Tab in the Ocean" on subsequent generations of musicians within the progressive rock and heavy metal genres.
