"Remember the Future" is the fourth album by the English progressive rock band Nektar, released in 1973. Like their debut album Journey to the Centre of the Eye, Remember the Future is a concept album that is divided into ten tracks but is essentially one continuous piece of music.
The album was initially released by Bacillus (Bellaphon) in 1973. It was later re-released in 1990 on LP and CD by Bellaphon in Germany, using the rejected quadrophonic LP mix. In 2002, the album was remastered from the original tapes and reissued on CD with two bonus tracks: radio promo edits of the album. This reissue marked the first time that the correct LP mixes were available on CD.
In 2004, Remember the Future was once again re-released, this time by Eclectic Discs/Dream Nebula Recordings in the UK. This edition used the remastered version from 2002 and added a third radio edit of the title track. The 2004 release was also available as a Super Audio CD (SACD), which included a 5.1 surround sound mix derived from the original 1973 quadraphonic mix. The SACD's 2-channel layer contained the 2002 remix. Additionally, track 3, the title track Remember the Future, was edited and released on a various artists compilation titled Made in Germany, while tracks 4 and 5 were exclusive radio promo single edits.
For the 40th anniversary of the album in 2013, Cleopatra Records' Purple Pyramid Records issued a 2-CD set that included the original album and a bonus disc featuring the three radio edits from the 2004 release, as well as eight songs from the 1970 Boston Tapes, recorded on June 22, 1970, in Boston by Charlie Dreyer.
In 2014, Purple Pyramid released a limited edition 3-CD set to mark the album's 40th anniversary. This version added a third disc consisting of previously released material, including newly-written songs the band recorded during a jam session on March 27, 1974, at Chipping Norton Studios in Oxfordshire, England. Three of these tracks had originally appeared on side two of the 1974 live album Sunday Night at London Roundhouse, while the remaining three tracks were included in the 2002 release Unidentified Flying Abstract – Live at Chipping Norton 1974 on Bacillus/Bellaphon Records.
