"Music from Big Pink" is the debut studio album by the Band, released in 1968. The album features a unique blend of country, rock, folk, classical, R&B, blues, and soul genres. The music was partly composed in a house known as "Big Pink," located in West Saugerties, New York, which was shared by bassist/singer Rick Danko, pianist/singer Richard Manuel, and organist Garth Hudson.
The album was recorded in studios in New York and Los Angeles in 1968, following the band's work backing Bob Dylan on his 1966 tour as the Hawks and their collaborative recording sessions in upstate New York. These sessions were later released in 1975 as *The Basement Tapes*, featuring Bob Dylan. Notably, the cover artwork of *Music from Big Pink* is a painting by Dylan.
In 2000, the album was re-released with additional outtakes from the recording sessions. To commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2018, a "Super Deluxe" edition was released, which included a new stereo mix by Bob Clearmountain.
