Motörhead

"Rock 'n' Roll" is the eighth studio album by the iconic English rock band Motörhead, released in August 1987. Produced during a tumultuous period with their label GWR, the album marked their final release under this label due to ongoing legal issues. Despite the band's consistent success in the rock scene, "Rock 'n' Roll" achieved modest commercial success, peaking at No. 34 on the UK Albums Chart, making it one of Motörhead's lowest-charting albums up to that point. The album is notable for reuniting Motörhead with drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, part of their acclaimed "classic lineup". However, Taylor's return was short-lived as he was dismissed from the band a few years later. Despite its commercial performance, "Rock 'n' Roll" received praise for its raw energy and adherence to Motörhead's signature style of hard-hitting rock and roll. Following its release, Motörhead continued to face label and personnel challenges, yet their legacy as pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock remained intact. "Rock 'n' Roll" stands as a testament to the band's resilience and dedication to their distinctive sound, despite the external pressures they faced during its creation and release.
