"Graffiti Bridge" released on August 20, 1990, is the twelfth studio album by Prince and serves as the soundtrack for the film of the same name. While the film received lukewarm to negative reviews, the album was more successful in terms of sales. It reached number 6 on the US Billboard 200 and became Prince's third consecutive album to top the UK Albums Chart, following "Lovesexy" and "Batman."
The album features a mix of Prince's own songwriting and performances by various artists, including Tevin Campbell, Mavis Staples, and The Time. Despite the diverse lineup, nearly every track on the album was written by Prince. It produced notable singles like "Thieves in the Temple" and "New Power Generation," the latter of which introduced Prince's newly formed backing band, the New Power Generation. This band would go on to play a significant role in Prince's subsequent work, including the album "Diamonds and Pearls."
