Lynyrd Skynyrd

"Legend" is a posthumous compilation album by the American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, released in 1987. The album consists of previously unreleased demos and outtakes from various recording sessions by the band, some of which date back to 1971-1972. It includes early versions of hits like "Free Bird" and "Party Girl." Lynyrd Skynyrd, a Southern rock band, was formed in Jacksonville, FL, in 1964 by vocalist Ronnie Van Zant, guitarists Gary Rossington and Allen Collins, and drummer Bob Burns. The band had a series of hit albums and singles in the 1970s. However, the group's trajectory was abruptly halted in 1977 when a plane crash killed Van Zant and several other members of the band. The release of "Legend" rekindled interest in Lynyrd Skynyrd's music a decade after this tragic incident. Although it didn't have the same commercial success as their earlier outputs, it still holds a significant place in the band's history, serving as a testament to Lynyrd Skynyrd's creative process and their enduring legacy in rock music.
