Barbra Streisand

"My Name Is Barbra" is the ninth studio album by American singer Barbra Streisand, released in April 1965. The album is one of Streisand's best-selling albums and is her first album with CBS Records. It won a Grammy Award for Best Female Vocal Performance, her third in this category out of a total of five she would win throughout her career. The album is unique because it features Streisand singing alone; there are no guest singers or duets. As a result, the tracks largely showcase her vocal range and versatility as an artist. The music covers a wide spectrum of styles, from pop and Broadway standards to folk and classical. It includes songs like "Where is the Wonder" and "I'm All Smiles". The album includes a medley of four folk songs arranged by Peter Matz: "Make Believe", "How Much of the Dream Comes True", "All That I Want", and "Where is the Wonder". The album was a commercial success, reaching No.2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and being certified gold by the RIAA in November 1965. The success of the album also led to a television special of the same name which aired on CBS in 1965, winning five Emmys. In the years following its release, "My Name Is Barbra" has continued to be praised for Streisand's vocal abilities and broad range of material. It set the stage for her later albums and affirmed the multi-genre artist she would become.
