Boston

"Walk On" is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Boston. It was released on June 7, 1994, by MCA Records and marks a significant change in the band's lineup, being the first album following the departure of lead vocalist Brad Delp. Tom Scholz, the band's leader and primary songwriter, took on the role of lead vocalist for most of the songs. Other band members at the time of the album's release were Fran Cosmo, Gary Pihl, and David Sikes. The album was a departure from Boston's signature sound, with less emphasis on layered guitar work and more on keyboards and technology-driven production. "Walk On" is more of a hard rock album than its predecessors, which were characterized by their notably melodic rock. Despite mixed reviews from critics, "Walk On" was commercially successful. It peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA, signifying one million copies sold. Hits from the album include "I Need Your Love," which reached number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the title track, "Walk On," a lengthy suite that consists of multiple sections. The album consists of ten tracks in total with a duration of 66 minutes and 12 seconds. Despite this album marking a shift in Boston’s sound and facing some criticism, it is nonetheless an essential part of their discography, demonstrating their ability to adapt and evolve their sound while still creating commercially appealing music.
