Sheryl Crow

"100 Miles from Memphis" is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, released as her final record with A&M Records. This album marks a departure from her previous country and pop-rock styles, embracing a vintage R&B and Memphis soul sound. Sheryl Crow co-wrote and co-produced the album with Doyle Bramhall II and Justin Stanley, with additional contributions from musicians Tommy Sims and Chris Bruce. In this release, Crow focuses primarily on her vocal performance rather than playing instruments, although she is proficient on bass, piano, and guitar. The album features cover versions of Citizen Cope's Sideways, Terence Trent D'Arby's 1988 hit Sign Your Name, and The Jackson 5's I Want You Back. Notably, 100 Miles from Memphis is the first of Crow's albums not to receive any Grammy Award nominations, excluding her holiday and greatest hits compilations.
