"Truly Fine Citizen" is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Moby Grape. Released in July 1969 on Columbia Records, the album was the band's final record with original member Bob Mosley.
The album was produced by Bob Johnston, best known for his work with Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. The album's recording process was rushed and marred with difficulties, owing to Bob Mosley's increasingly erratic behavior. Consequently, the band was reduced to a trio consisting of Peter Lewis, Jerry Miller and Don Stevenson for most of the album’s recording sessions.
Despite these obstacles, "Truly Fine Citizen" still showcases the band's signature blend of rock 'n' roll, folk, blues, and country. The album features tracks such as the title song "Truly Fine Citizen" and "Beautiful Is Beautiful", displaying the band’s late-60s laid-back, country-influenced sound. Although not as commercially successful as their previous albums, the band's musical abilities still shine through.
Sadly, this album marked the end of an era for Moby Grape as Bob Mosley left the band shortly after its release, thus leading to the band's dissolution. They would not release another album until the early 1970s, when they temporarily reunited.
