"20 Granite Creek" is indeed the fifth album by the rock band Moby Grape. It marked a significant reunion for the band, bringing together original members Skip Spence and Bob Mosley after a hiatus following their last album for Columbia Records, "Truly Fine Citizen." The album was recorded for Reprise Records, the band's only release on that label.
David Rubinson, who had produced most of Moby Grape's albums on Columbia Records, returned as producer for "20 Granite Creek." He also took on the role of the band's manager during this period. The album's title references an address near Santa Cruz, California, although no band member had actually lived there.
Interestingly, the rights to "20 Granite Creek" are now owned by the band itself. This came about after a legal dispute where the band successfully sued their former manager, Matthew Katz, in 2007. Katz had been involved in significant legal battles with the band over the years concerning ownership and rights to their music and recordings.
