"More Hits by The Supremes" is the sixth studio album by the Motown girl group The Supremes, released in 1965. The album features several notable singles, including the number-one hits "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "Back in My Arms Again," along with the Top 20 single "Nothing but Heartaches."
The album opens with "Ask Any Girl," which was originally a B-side from their previous album, *Where Did Our Love Go*. This track was re-mixed for this album and serves as a fresh start for the record, though it was initially intended to be a single. Interestingly, "Always In My Heart," which was originally meant to open the album, was later released under the title "You're Gone (But Always In My Heart)" on the Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland album due to confusion with royalty reporting.
More Hits by The Supremes was well-received, reaching number six on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs chart and number two on the R&B album chart. It spent a notable 37 weeks on the Billboard Top LPs chart. The album's cover featured autographs from each member of The Supremes, underscoring their popularity at the time.
Though "Mother Dear" was considered as a follow-up single to "Back in My Arms Again," Motown opted for "Nothing But Heartaches" instead. The planned single release of "Mother Dear" was ultimately shelved, and the track was re-recorded with a stop beat but never released as a single. The album’s stereo version included most of the tracks in stereo, except for "He Holds His Own," which was not released until the 2011 expanded edition of the album.
