The Beach Boys

"Beach Boys Concert" is the first live album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on October 19, 1964. This album marks their seventh overall and their third release of that year. It was a significant success, becoming their first live album to reach number one on the US charts, where it remained for four weeks during a 62-week chart run, eventually achieving gold status. The album was recorded live at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in California but underwent extensive post-production. Notably, it captures one of the few live performances of the original Beach Boys lineup, as Brian Wilson would soon step back from live performances for many years. The tracklist includes popular songs the band often performed live but hadn't previously recorded, such as "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena," "Long Tall Texan," and "Monster Mash." It also features well-known hits like "Hawaii," "Fun, Fun, Fun," and "I Get Around." Some tracks were recorded during a December 21, 1963 show, adding to the album's historical significance. In 2014, additional performances from the same concert dates were released as "Live in Sacramento 1964."
