"Born into This" is The Cult's eighth studio album, released on October 2, 2007, in the US, Canada, South Africa, and Sweden, with earlier releases in Hungary, Denmark, Spain, and France on October 1, and in Finland on October 3. This album followed their 2001 release, Beyond Good and Evil, marking their first release on Roadrunner Records.
Recorded at Britannia Row Studios in London, with additional sessions in Los Angeles and Buenos Aires, the band initially produced 13 tracks. The first single, "Dirty Little Rockstar," was released in mid-August 2007, and a live performance of "I Assassin" occurred during their European tour that June.
A special "Savage Edition" of the album featured an extra CD with five additional tracks, including demos and unreleased outtakes. The album debuted at #72 on the UK album chart, #63 in Italy, and #70 on the US Billboard 100, with notable positions on various rock and alternative charts across multiple countries.
Frontman Ian Astbury initially indicated that this might be The Cult's last studio album, but the band later released Choice of Weapon in 2012 and Hidden City in 2016. In 2018, Born into This was reissued on limited-edition pink vinyl.
