ZZ Top

"Antenna" is the eleventh studio album by the American blues-rock band ZZ Top, released in 1994. It was their first album to be released on the RCA label. It incorporates elements of blues rock, hard rock, southern rock, and boogie rock. The entire band–Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard–collaborated in the songwriting process for this album. It was also produced by Gibbons. The album was recorded and mixed at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. "Antenna" marked the return of ZZ Top to their more stripped-down roots following their heavily synthesized 80s albums. It spawned several successful singles, including "Breakaway," "Fuzzbox Voodoo," and the top ten hit "Pincushion." The album was positively received by critics. It reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200 Album charts, ultimately achieving platinum status in the United States. Despite the positive reception, "Antenna" would be ZZ Top's last platinum album to date. The album's cover art is an homage to their iconic "Eliminator" car, depicting a stylized vehicle with a large antenna. It hints at the band's return to their roots but with a modern twist. It's a metaphor for the fusion of their old school bluesy style with the sharper, updated sound they bring in this album.
