"New World" is the third album by The Zombies, recorded in 1990. Originally, several tracks were released in Europe in 1990 on an album titled "The Return of the Zombies." The "New World" album includes numerous tracks from that release, either remixed or re-recorded, alongside new tracks. It was officially released in April 1991. The motivation behind recording this album was to protect the name of the band in response to various imposter groups touring the US at the time.
Due to the unavailability of original members Rod Argent and Paul Atkinson for more than one track each, the recording process involved some deviation from the classic lineup. The album was initially issued in the UK on RCA but did not secure a release in the US. RCA eventually issued it on CD, and it was later reissued on Ace's Big Beat label. The context of protecting the band's name adds an interesting dimension to the album's creation, and it stands as a unique chapter in The Zombies' discography.
