"Byrdmaniax" is the tenth album by the American rock band the Byrds, released in June 1971 by Columbia Records. The album came at a time when the band was experiencing a resurgence in popularity due to the success of their previous albums, "Ballad of Easy Rider" and "(Untitled)". This album marked the second to feature the line-up of Roger McGuinn, Clarence White, Gene Parsons, and Skip Battin. Recorded during an exhausting tour schedule in early 1971, the album suffered from the band having little time to develop their new songs fully.
"Byrdmaniax" was poorly received upon its release, especially in the United States, damaging the band's newfound popularity. The album peaked at number 46 on the Billboard Top LPs chart but failed to chart in the UK. The single "I Trust (Everything Is Gonna Work Out Alright)" was released in the UK on May 7, 1971, without chart success. A second single, "Glory, Glory", released on August 20, 1971, reached number 110 on the Billboard chart but also did not chart in the UK.
The album is one of the Byrds' most poorly received releases, primarily due to producer Terry Melcher and arranger Paul Polena's addition of strings, horns, and a gospel choir, reportedly without the band's consent.
