The Yardbirds

"Roger the Engineer," also known as "Yardbirds" in the UK, is the only UK studio album and the third US album by the English rock band the Yardbirds. Released in 1966, it is the only Yardbirds album featuring guitarist Jeff Beck on all tracks and includes all original material. Produced by bassist Paul Samwell-Smith and manager Simon Napier-Bell, the album is colloquially known as "Roger the Engineer" due to the cover drawing of the band's audio engineer, Roger Cameron, created by band member Chris Dreja. In the UK, the album reached number 20 on the Albums Chart, and in the US, it peaked at number 52 on the Billboard 200, making it the Yardbirds' highest-charting studio album in the US. It also reached number 8 in Finland. The single "Over Under Sideways Down," released two months before the album, is one of its most recognized tracks. "Roger the Engineer" is noted in Robert Dimery's *1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die* and was ranked number 350 in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time in 2012.
