"Evergreen" is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Echo & the Bunnymen, marking their return after disbanding in 1993. Vocalist Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant had briefly worked together as Electrafixion before reuniting with bassist Les Pattinson under the Echo & the Bunnymen name in 1997.
Recorded at Doghouse Studios in Henley-on-Thames, "Evergreen" was produced by McCulloch and the band's manager Paul Toogood, though credited to the entire band. The album followed a successful comeback marked by live performances and the release of the single "Nothing Lasts Forever," which generated anticipation for the album's release in July 1997.
"Evergreen" includes notable tracks such as "I Want to Be There" and "Don't Let It Get You Down," which were released as singles post-album launch. The album received positive reviews from critics and was well-received by the public, achieving a peak position of number eight on the UK Albums Chart.
Overall, "Evergreen" stands as a successful return for Echo & the Bunnymen, demonstrating their enduring appeal and reaffirming their place in the alternative rock scene of the late 1990s.
