"Live '88" is the second live album by English rock band Supertramp, released in October 1988 on A&M Records. This album marked the last appearance of bassist Dougie Thomson with the band.
Originally recorded on a two-track cassette directly from the soundboard for Rick Davies' personal use, Live '88 features a four-piece lineup of the band, augmented by additional musicians, including Mark Hart, who later became a permanent member of Supertramp and was also part of Crowded House. Although initially not intended for commercial release, Rick Davies was so pleased with the performances that he authorized A&M Records to publish it.
The album includes two cover songs: "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Willie Dixon and "Don't You Lie To Me (I Get Evil)." The rest of the tracklist comprises songs from the band's last setlist used to promote Free as a Bird (1987), along with selections from their earlier career.
Following the album's release, Supertramp went on hiatus, and Live '88 has remained largely out of print. Unlike much of the band's discography, it has not been reissued, nor does it feature any tracks included in the Retrospectacle: The Supertramp Anthology. This rarity has made Live '88 a unique piece of the Supertramp catalog, cherished by fans for its live performances and historical significance.
