"Sonic Flower Groove" is the debut studio album by the Scottish rock band Primal Scream, released on October 5, 1987, by Elevation Records. Mayo Thompson of Red Krayola produced the album after the band was dissatisfied with work done by Stephen Street. Musically, Sonic Flower Groove features psychedelic, Byrdsy jangle pop and is notable for being the only Primal Scream album to include founding member Jim Beattie, credited as Jim Navajo.
The album achieved modest success, reaching number 62 on the UK Albums Chart, but it fell short of expectations for a major label release. This disappointment contributed to the original lineup of Primal Scream splitting up shortly after the album's release, leaving vocalist Bobby Gillespie and the guitar duo of Andrew Innes and Robert "Throb" Young to reorganize the band.
