"V" (Roman numeral for five) is the fifth studio album by American band Maroon 5, released on August 29, 2014, through 222 and Interscope Records. It was the band's first album released under Interscope following their transfer from A&M Octone Records. The album marked the return of keyboardist/rhythm guitarist/backing vocalist Jesse Carmichael, who had been absent from the recording, touring, and promotion of their previous album, Overexposed (2012).
V debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and featured three hit singles: "Maps," "Animals," and "Sugar," which peaked at numbers 6, 3, and 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, respectively. A fourth single, "This Summer's Gonna Hurt like a Motherfucker," was released on May 15, 2015, as part of the reissue deluxe edition of the album. The final single, "Feelings," was released on September 14, 2015. The album received mixed reviews from music critics.
