"Despicable Me: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" was released on July 6, 2010, accompanying the film of the same name. The soundtrack features new songs written, performed, produced, and/or composed by Pharrell Williams. Artists like Destinee & Paris, The Sylvers, Robin Thicke, The Bee Gees, and David Bisbal also contributed performances to the soundtrack. Pharrell Williams and Heitor Pereira composed the film's score, which was produced by Hans Zimmer. The score was recorded with a 67-piece ensemble of the Hollywood Studio Symphony at the Newman Scoring Stage at 20th Century Fox. While the soundtrack album includes songs featured prominently in the film, there's an unofficial release that includes additional songs that appeared in "Despicable Me." Two songs from the soundtrack, "Despicable Me" and "Prettiest Girls," were shortlisted for the Best Original Song category at the 83rd Academy Awards. In the Japanese release of the first film, Rip Slyme provided the theme song "Good Times (Bad Times remix)."
