"Paranormal" is the 27th studio album by American rock singer Alice Cooper, released on July 28, 2017. The album features guest appearances from Larry Mullen Jr., Roger Glover, Billy Gibbons and members of the original Alice Cooper band. Arguably one of Alice Cooper's most dynamic and eclectic works, it boasts 12 tracks and was produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin.
The first disc contains the title track "Paranormal," and another notable song, "Dead Flies." The album fluctuates stylistically between hard-driving rock anthems and eerie, evocative ballads. These songs are as much storytelling narratives as they are catchy rock tunes, continuing Cooper's long-standing tradition of incorporating thematic elements into his music.
The second disc contains live recordings from a performance in Columbus, Ohio, in 2016. This includes performances of classic Cooper tracks like "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "School's Out."
"Paranormal" received generally positive reviews from critics and was also a commercial success. It debuted at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, making it Cooper's highest charting album in the UK since 1991's "Hey Stoopid." The album also peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200, making it Cooper's highest-peaking album in the US since 1989's "Trash."
The album marked a pivotal point in Cooper's career as he reunited with original band members, as well as collaborated with new guest artists. This diversity of talent contributed to the eclectic mix of old and new that set "Paranormal" apart in Cooper's discography.
