"Take It from the Man!" is the third studio album by American psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Released on May 28, 1996, it was the first of three full-length albums released by the band in that year, all of which were recorded on a minimal budget. The album is noted for its 1960s-influenced sound, combining elements of British Invasion-era rock, garage rock, folk, and blues, which was a departure from the shoegazing style of the band's previous work.
Much of its content was inspired by lead singer Anton Newcombe's troublesome experiences with the criminal justice system and his struggles with substance abuse. Newcombe stated that a lot of the album was written while he was in jail. As a result, many of the lyrics maintain an aggressive and negative tone, making it one of the band's darker works.
"Take It from the Man!" played a vital role in establishing The Brian Jonestown Massacre's signature sound and has been received positively by critics. Though it failed to chart, it has since become a cult classic.
