"Watching You, Watching Me" is the eighth and final studio album by American singer-songwriter Bill Withers, released in 1985. This album marked Withers' first release in six years, following 'Bout Love in 1979.
The album features the hit single "Oh Yeah," which topped the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and "Something That Turns You On," which was a top 20 hit. Despite these successful singles, the album didn't perform as well on the charts, reaching #143 on the Billboard 200 and #41 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
As for the background, Bill Withers arguably crafted some of the most cherished and enduring soul songs of the 1970s and early '80s. However, by the time of the album's release, Withers had grown frustrated with the music industry, largely due to conflicts with record labels. Consequently, "Watching You, Watching Me" became his final album before he retired from the music business.
In terms of style, the album is a mix of soul, R&B and funk, which were characteristic styles of Withers. It was produced by Withers himself, along with Paul Smith and Denny Diante.
