Cypress Hill

"Cypress Hill III: Temples of Boom" is the third studio album by Latin-American hip hop group Cypress Hill, released on October 31, 1995, by Ruffhouse and Columbia Records. This album marked the first time Eric Bobo was an official member of the group. It showcased a stylistic shift, with the group adopting a darker, more tranquil, slower, and spookier sound in their beats. The album achieved Platinum status in the U.S., selling over 1 million units. With this release, the group moved toward a more sedate sound. Notable collaborations include appearances by Wu-Tang Clan members RZA and U-God on the track "Killa Hill Niggas." The song "No Rest for the Wicked" became significant in the feud between Cypress Hill and rapper Ice Cube, as Cypress Hill claimed that Ice Cube's hook from his single "Friday" was taken from their song "Throw Your Set in the Air." During the peak of this feud on the "Temples of Boom" tour, the group would engage the crowd in chanting obscenities directed at Ice Cube. The album's darker tone reflected the strife of the 1990s and the challenges the group faced as they gained fame, including Sen Dog's temporary departure to pursue other projects.
