Pere Ubu

"Story of My Life" is Pere Ubu's ninth studio album, known for its avant-garde and experimental approach to rock music. Released in 1993, this album marked a transition for the band as it was the first to feature a reduced lineup, with Eric Drew Feldman having left before recording, leaving Pere Ubu as a quartet. The album is characterized by its eclectic and dissonant sound, a hallmark of Pere Ubu's style. "Story of My Life" includes tracks like "Come Home," which gained recognition for its use in a bar fight scene in the movie "Kalifornia" (1993), and "Wasted," featured in the film "Sleep with Me" (1994). Notably, this album is the last to feature both longtime bassist Tony Maimone and founding drummer Scott Krauss. Despite not achieving significant commercial success, "Story of My Life" has received positive reviews for its innovative sound and contributions to the post-punk and avant-rock genres. The album was out of print for many years but was reissued in 2007, allowing a new audience to appreciate Pere Ubu's experimental musical landscape.
