The Flaming Lips

"Transmissions from the Satellite Heart" is the sixth studio album by the Flaming Lips, released in 1993 under Warner Bros. Records. This album marked a transitional period for the band, as it saw the departure of Jonathan Donahue and Nathan Roberts, and the introduction of new members Ronald Jones on guitar and Steven Drozd on drums. The album gained notable attention with the track "She Don't Use Jelly", which became the Flaming Lips' first radio hit following exposure on the MTV series "Beavis and Butt-Head". Despite being released nearly a year earlier, the quirky music video helped propel the song's popularity. Another single, "Turn It On", also achieved moderate success. By 2002, "Transmissions from the Satellite Heart" had sold approximately 300,000 copies worldwide. To further promote the album, the Flaming Lips released the EP "Due to High Expectations... The Flaming Lips Are Providing Needles for Your Balloons" the following year. This EP included live versions of "Chewin the Apple of Yer Eye" and "Slow•Nerve•Action", enhancing the album's exposure and fan engagement.
