The Flaming Lips

"Clouds Taste Metallic" is the seventh studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips, released on September 19, 1995, by Warner Bros. Records. It marked the last album featuring guitarist Ronald Jones and is prominently featured in the documentary Fearless Freaks. Initially, the album was expected to be the band’s first major commercial success following the hit "She Don't Use Jelly" from their previous release, Transmissions from the Satellite Heart (1993). However, it did not achieve the same level of popularity. Over time, though, Clouds Taste Metallic has been re-evaluated and is now regarded by critics and fans as one of the Flaming Lips' finest works, attaining cult status. The album's title originates from a story by former Tool bassist Paul D'Amour, who, after flying through a cloud in a roofless plane, heard the pilot remark, "You know, it's weird, clouds taste metallic."
