Sepultura

"A-Lex" is the eleventh studio album by the Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura. The album was released on 23rd January 2009. The title, "A-Lex", derives from the protagonist in Anthony Burgess' dystopian novel "A Clockwork Orange", Alex DeLarge. It also signifies 'without law' in Latin. "A-Lex" is Sepultura's first album to feature drummer Jean Dolabella, following Igor Cavalera's departure in 2006. The album features four parts across 18 tracks and is based on the 1962 novel "A Clockwork Orange". It opens with A-Lex I and progresses through A-Lex II: The Moloko Plus, A-Lex III: The Copa, to finish with A-Lex IV: Paradox. Among the tracks are songs such as "Filthy Rot", "We've Lost You!" and "Strike" reflecting various aspects of the story of "A Clockwork Orange". "A-Lex" received positive reviews from music critics who praised the band's creativity in transforming a classic novel into a thematic heavy metal album. It marked Sepultura's impressive departure from their traditional work, signaling the band's ability to experiment and adapt. As a result of its distinctive track listing and themes, the album has been labeled as one of Sepultura's most ambitious undertakings.
