Kasabian

"Empire" is the second studio album by British rock band Kasabian, released in August 2006. The album debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. It was preceded by the single "Empire," which was released on July 24, 2006. In an interview with NME in early 2006, lead vocalist Tom Meighan explained that the term "Empire" is used by the band to describe something that is exceptionally good. By May 3, 2017, the album had sold over 800,000 copies in the UK. Empire was the first full Kasabian album to feature drummer Ian Matthews, who joined the band in 2005. During the recording of the album, lead songwriter and guitarist Christopher Karloff left the band, though he contributed music to three tracks on the album.
