"Skellington" is Julian Cope's fifth solo album, initially released in November 1989 as a semi-official bootleg exclusively for members of his fan club on his CopeCo label. Due to its popularity, it was later officially reissued in March 1990 through Zippo Records.
The album "Skellington" was well-received for its quirky and experimental nature, showcasing Cope's distinctive songwriting style. It was later expanded with a sequel titled "Skellington 2: He's Back ... and this time it's personal", released in 1993 as "The Skellington Chronicles".
In 2018, Julian Cope continued the "Skellington" series with the release of "Skellington 3", maintaining the thematic and musical approach that fans had come to associate with the series. Each installment in the "Skellington" series has contributed to Cope's reputation for blending innovative musical ideas with his own unique artistic vision.
