Alt-J

"Relaxer" (stylized as RELAXER) is the third studio album by English indie rock band alt-J, released on June 2, 2017, by Infectious Music and Canvasback Music. Initially scheduled for release on June 9, 2017, the date was moved up by a week. The album was recorded in London with producer Charlie Andrew, who also produced the band's first two albums. "Relaxer" features a mix of newly composed songs and tracks from the band's early days at the University of Leeds. Six of the album's eight tracks include string arrangements performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. Notable tracks include "House of the Rising Sun," a rearrangement of the traditional folk tune, and "3WW" and "Deadcrush," which feature guest vocals from Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice. Marika Hackman provides guest vocals on "Last Year," having previously collaborated with the band. The album was promoted with singles "3WW," "In Cold Blood," "Adeline," "Deadcrush," and "Pleader," accompanied by music videos for all except "Adeline." Additionally, alt-J commissioned Japanese artist Osamu Sato to create a playable online game inspired by his game LSD: Dream Emulator, with the album's artwork featuring a screenshot from Sato's game. The band supported the album with the Relaxer Tour, starting on June 10, 2017, and included performances at major festivals like Glastonbury and Lollapalooza. "Relaxer" was nominated for the 2017 Mercury Prize, and a remix album titled "Reduxer" was released on September 28, 2018.
