"Beautiful Garbage" (stylized as beautifulgarbage) is the third studio album by American rock band Garbage, released on October 1, 2001, by Mushroom Records worldwide, followed by a North American release on Interscope Records the next day. Departing from their established sound, the album was a year-long endeavor documented weekly by lead singer Shirley Manson in one of music's earliest high-profile online blogs.
Expanding their musical palette, "Beautiful Garbage" combined rock with electronica, new wave, hip hop, and girl group influences, featuring stronger melodies and more direct lyrics. Despite initial setbacks such as limited promotion and modest chart performance of its lead single "Androgyny," the album debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and topped the charts in Australia, while reaching the top 10 in several European countries. It was also recognized as one of Rolling Stone's "Top 10 Albums of the Year."
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, a remastered and expanded edition of "Beautiful Garbage" was released on November 5, 2021, featuring two bonus CDs containing b-sides, alternate versions, previously unreleased recordings, and remixes.
