"In This Light and on This Evening" is the third studio album by English rock band Editors, released on October 12, 2009, by Kitchenware Records. The band aimed for a more raw and anthemic sound compared to their earlier work. The first single from the album was "Papillon," followed by "You Don't Know Love," released on January 25, 2010, and "Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool," released on May 24, 2010. The album includes a bonus extended play titled Cuttings II, featuring five additional tracks. This was the last album to feature lead guitarist Chris Urbanowicz, who departed the band on April 16, 2012.
Lyrically and musically, the album is heavily influenced by frontman Tom Smith's home city of London. He noted that London is present in every song, with the city's electronic whirrs and hums reflecting its constant background noise.
