Editors

"In Dream" is the fifth studio album by British alternative rock band Editors. It was released worldwide by PIAS Recordings in October 2015. Different from the band's previous albums which were produced by an external producer, "In Dream" was produced by the band itself. The album marked a distinct shift from their traditional rock structure to a more electronic and abstract style, indicating the band's exploration into new territories. Among the recorded tracks in the album, three songs feature vocals from Rachel Goswell of Slowdive. The band's intention was to create a more intimate album and they decided to do this at their self-built studio in the Western Highlands of Scotland, then later, it was mixed in London by Alan Moulder. The album was widely acclaimed for it is a brave and emotionally powerful album from one of the significant British bands of the 21st century. The songs in the album generally deal with themes of love, pain, and redemption. Among its tracks, "No Harm" and "Marching Orders" were the first songs released to the public. The former was hidden on a Play It Again Sam sampler disc released in April 2015, while the latter was released for general availability on 18 June 2015. Throughout the years, the band has seen a growth in popularity which saw them headline festivals across Europe and receive critical acclaim for their thought-provoking, introspective lyrics coupled with captivating melodies and composition. In Dream set a new tone for Editors, showing their ability to constantly evolve their sound whilst holding onto their distinctive rock roots.
