Simply Red

"Picture Book" is the debut album by British pop and soul group Simply Red, released in October 1985. The album features the US number-one single "Holding Back the Years," along with covers of The Valentine Brothers' "Money's Too Tight (to Mention)" and Talking Heads' "Heaven." In addition to these hits, three more singles were released from the album: "Come to My Aid," "Jericho," and "Open Up the Red Box." The success of Picture Book earned Simply Red a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 1987, and "Holding Back the Years" received a nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals. Notably, a special version of the album was released in the CD+G format, which allowed for 4-bit raster graphic images, text, and animations to be displayed on a connected TV when played on a compatible CD player, showcasing the innovative technology of the time.
