Built To Spill

"There Is No Enemy" is the seventh studio album by indie rock band Built to Spill, released on October 6, 2009. This album marks their fifth release with Warner Bros. Records and is notable for being the last to feature long-time drummer Scott Plouf and bassist Brett Nelson, who both departed the band in 2012. The album features contributions from various guest musicians, including Sam Coomes, cellist John McMahon, Scott Schmaljohn (of Treepeople), Paul Leary, and Roger Manning, who provided additional keyboards. In anticipation of the album, Built to Spill streamed the entire record on their official MySpace profile starting September 30, 2009. This early access allowed fans to engage with the new material before its official release. Upon its release in the UK and Europe on February 15, 2010, by ATP Recordings, There Is No Enemy included an exclusive bonus track titled "Water Sleepers," which was previously unreleased. The album continues Built to Spill's signature sound, blending intricate guitar work with introspective lyrics, showcasing their evolution while remaining true to their indie rock roots.
